1. Paying via the new Point of Sale Tool

The Point of Sale Tool works like a digital till for your Book Fair. It scans the barcode of each book as it’s purchased, automatically recording every title sold, so there’s no need to manually note down what’s been bought. This is especially useful for schools who want to know exactly which titles have sold during the fair.

Did you know? Because the Point of Sale Tool scans each title individually, you’ll have a full record of everything sold at your fair – no separate tracking needed.

Before you start, please note the following:

• Device requirement: Please ensure the device you are using has a camera so that barcodes can be scanned.
• Advisory amounts only: The cash amount shown in the Point of Sale Tool is advisory only. Always count your cash and enter the actual total on your Online Fair Report after the fair.
• Transactions cannot be removed: You cannot remove a transaction from the Point of Sale Tool — this is why the cash amount shown is advisory only.
• Manual entry: If a book does not scan, please enter the title manually and add the price if necessary.

Important reminder: The Point of Sale Tool cash figure is a guide only. Always count your cash and submit the accurate total in your Online Fair Report after the fair – do not rely solely on the figure shown in the tool.

Privacy notice: Our scanning tool uses your device’s camera only to scan barcodes and process sales. No images or video are recorded, stored, or shared, and no personal data is captured by the scanner.

2. Paying via a Book Fair specific QR Code

A QR code unique to your fair is available for parents and guardians to scan and pay quickly at the event.

For Organisers:

• Your Book Fair specific QR code can be found on your fairs dashboard. Display it prominently at your fair so parents can easily scan it.

For Parents and Guardians:

• Please bring your mobile phone to the fair so you can scan the QR code.
• Please also bring your payment card to complete your purchase.

Let parents know in advance to bring both their mobile phone and payment card to the fair to use this option smoothly.

Online Payments

3. Accepting payments online

1. Parents are able to make payments on the Scholastic website at bookfairs.scholastic.ie/pay
2. If they are present at the Fair and wish to pay online, you can display the QR code that links through to this webpage, which can be found in your Organiser Resources.
3. If their child has filled in a Wish List and parents are making a payment from home, they will need to return the Wish List to school along with confirmation of payment. Then, simply take their chosen books from the Book Fair cases.
