Hints and Tips for Sharing Your Fair
Hints and tips for sharing your Book Fair
Make the most of social media and use it to effectively promote your Book Fair. Take a look at our hints and tips below to make your posts go further and help build more engagement with your Book Fair.
Tag us in anything you post
We love to see your Book Fair posts and we share our favourites to our Facebook and Twitter pages – particularly your original ideas such as Book Fair competitions and decorations! You can tag us in your post by using an ’@’ symbol. Just type @ScholasticIre to twitter posts or @ScholasticIreland to your facebook posts. You can also tap on images you upload on all three sites to tag us in photos.
You can find us on:
Include lots of photos
Posts with photos do better than those without. You can use graphics to do a countdown towards your fair, post some collages of the books coming to your fair, or live blog setting it up. Originality is great but there are also images on the Free Resources page if you get stuck!
Use hashtags
If you’re on Instagram or Twitter then try using hashtags by adding them to your posts. On Twitter, less is more so try using hashtags like #BookFair or #ShareYourFair (If you’re doing a Book Fair Takeover, then #BookFairTakeover is a great one to include in your posts). On Instagram, hashtags typically come after a caption and there are a lot more options such as #Bookstagram or #Bookworm. Do your research and tailor it for your Book Fair – for example, if you’re running a Teen Fair then take a look at popular YA (Young Adult) book hashtags.
Start early and post often!
You can start posting about your Book Fair early on to help build a buzz. This could start by creating a Facebook event and inviting PTA members who can then share the event.
Keep posting
Sharing your Fair doesn’t have to stop with the actual event! You can post pictures of students making wish lists, shopping the fair, or reading their purchases once the fair has started.
Post about your results!
Families love to see what you have purchased with your Book Fair funds and seeing all the free books they earn for the schools. Post pictures of your purchases, such as your stack of books, or of the students reading them in the library. You can also try posting a video of your Book Fair – videos get more attention than other posts on Twitter and Facebook!
